There are 3 types of benificiaries
A) The students identified are given dress materials, books and note books for their school life.
B) The students identified will be given a lump-sum amount for the educational year as living expenses. This is to encourage parents not to stop the children from going to school. The amount for such sponsorship is capped to Rs 10000/- as living expenses for a period of 10months. However, the amount donated will be revised upwards by the SET committee if justifiable.
C) The students from social service organizations are adopted and money is paid to these organizations every year in support of the expenses spent on these children. One example of such organizations is Amar Seva in southern part of Tamilnadu. Another example is Shanmuganadha Ashram.
Our criteria in selection for extending financial assistance are:
a) Students studying in schools (up to 12th standard)
b) Students with village / small town background
c) Parents not having stable income (a servant maid, a coolie or a driver)
d) Pass in each academic year
e) Students for collegiate education provided funds are available or sponsors are available
The trust prefers to go in identifying the children through its contacts in India and participants rather than choosing the children from social service organizations. However, if the donors prefer to go with this choice of social service organizations, SET will reach the children in these organizations in India.
